He is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Burks and 11 nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Suzanne Purnell, sister, Marjorie Christian, and brother, Charles Purnell. A memorial reception will be held June 5, 2009, 3-5 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Garden City, Kan. Contributions may be made to Finney County Historical Society, P.O. Box 796, Garden City, KS. 67846.
