On 23 February 1645/6 it was discussed whether the military affairs of the town may be comfortably carried out without a captain, or whether it were not convenient to chose a captain instead of Captain Turner, not knowing when he will return. After some debate, Mr. Malbon was chosen captain with liberty to resign his place to Captain Turner at his return.1
